Balam, Spring

Balam, SpringBalam, Spring by Travis M. Riddle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book to leave an honest review through the TBRindr program.

Balam, Spring is an intriguing tale of an epidemic in a small seaside town that Ironically starts with the only person that could heal it, the White Mage. Then steps in Ryckert Ji'ca the ex-merc to try and solve the mystery of the death. He is then accompanied by Aava the new white mage to figure out the cause of the deadly epidemic in the town. The story also focuses on Theo Saen the school teacher. He was the only witness to the death of the white mage and tries to deal with his feelings about her death along with his family history.

This store is plot driven so there is very little character development. Each character does have a good back story to them that is slowly revealed in the book. It is nice seeing the histories of the characters as it lets you understand how the characters got to be how they are and what drives their decisions.

Over all this is a very enjoyable book and I gladly give it 4 stars.
